I ust posted this yesterday on the FB group.
Initial Impressions and test ride of the new Klim Krios Pro
I spent 3 hours in it this morning riding highway and dirt roads. Temps were in the mid 90’s with relatively high humidity. The bike I’m riding is a KTM1290 Super Adventure R with a Puig windshield.
Fitment is true to size and is claimed to be an intermediate oval shape. I am an egg head, falling in between an oval and a long oval. I found it very comfortable with no pressure points noticeable after 3 hours of wearing it.
Visibility is fantastic with a great field of view. The opening fit my goggles over my glasses with ease. The Shoei Hornet X2 would bind the goggles and I’d have to twist them in and out.
The weight is incredibly light.
Head buffeting at highway speeds wasn’t bad at all. Less so with windshield in the high position. But even in the low position, it was very tolerable. The shell is larger than the Shoei but the weight is much less, making what buffeting I did experience easier to deal with than with the heavier Shoei.
Airflow is incredible! This is probably the coolest full face helmet I’ve worn to date. The padding in the inner shell really moves a lot of air across the top of my head.
Noise wasn’t bad either. I was expecting a lot worse than what it was. Although noisier than the Shoei, it wasn’t much worse. I did approximately 50 miles at highway speeds and found it perfectly acceptable.
The monochromatic lens I find nice! It does however, get spotty when it is raised up while riding off road. It did even out relatively fast when lowered though so I can deal with that. Others may not like that but it did come with a clear visor. I’ll be running the monochromatic visor with the peak on. Even though they say not to do that. Probably because of the uneven transition from light to dark with it on. I do wish it had more settings as the highway crack is about an inch and I’d like it about half that. There was no warping of vision at the lower edge though, which makes it tolerable.
Finally, the lighter color I feel did help lower inside temperature when compared to my black Shoei Hornet X2. But that could be due to a lot of other factors. Or maybe all in my head. I’ll have to set them both out in the sun and find out if there’s any truth to that.
For me and my egg shaped head, I think it’s a great helmet. But definitely try it on first if you’re considering one.
