Spent some time in the Dixie National Forest in Utah on my DR 650. If you've never been there, it has so much riding in every direction. From 5000' to 11000' in elevation. Everything from fast dirt road to as challenging as you want to get. I decided to try one of the challenging motorcycle trails even though i usually ride alone. So it looked like a fairly short trail, a few miles, that connected with a forest service road on the top of the mountain. Right from the start it became a rocky uphill climb, the kind that once you start you cannot stop. in a few places there is a little level ground to take a break and rest. my bike being air cooled i gave it and myself a few breaks. The switch backs were so tight that I'd have to stop back up the bike and get another run. Finally, after about 1 1/2 hours i made it to the forest service road. calling it a road is a joke. went from smaller apple size rocks to watermelon size. Absolutely no way you could do it without a trails bike. After dropping it on the left and the right i took a break stripped off some layers before i dehydrated drank another bottle of water and headed back down which was equally as challenging. i don't know how you could even ride something like that with anti-lock brakes. A road that was between 2-3 miles took about 2 hrs to get through.
